Even outside of creative writing classes, I have to write multiple essays for every class I take, and I always score well on them. I am currently an English major, specifying in creative writing, at Virginia Tech. In high school, I took both of the offered AP English courses and passed with a 4 on both. In college, almost every class I have taken has been English-oriented, with regards to either literature or writing. When it comes to helping others, I have been editing friends' papers some in high school and multiple times weekly in college. I am able to find what they are doing wrong and constructively advise ways to fix their problems with writing. In Writing... I generally give my students a mild assessment to see how I can best help them. I also conduct all of my own lesson planning. However, I am certainly accustomed to helping students with current academic work they may already have from their current classes. The first thing that I typically help students do is get pass the creativity block (if needed). Even I, like all writers have suffered from the inability to start my essay because I didn't know what to write about or how to collect ideas for my topic.
