I enjoy working with children I get a real thrill when they get the concept/idea that I am instructing them in . I believe that given time and instruction a child that is willing to learn will learn. It's a matter of patience and time. I have 15 years experience in the lab. My educational requirements to be a med tech means I have taken many science and biology classes. I believe that teaching styles need to be flexible to the student. I have worked with a very wide variety of students, from the severely limited autistic youth to the highly gifted medical student. While approach and focus might vary for the individual or subject matter the essence remains the same. I try to envision at least 3 different ways of approaching a problem, I discuss material but let the students ask questions which I then tailor my explanations toward. Everyone sees a problem slightly differently and if you allow yourself an open mind and creative thinking often you can help them break through a difficult problem because you are able to see it their way. After graduating from Michigan State University with a B.S. in Biological Sciences and a minor in Chemistry, I spent an entire school year teaching Advanced Biology and Introduction to Chemistry classes at Eaton Rapids High School. I was in charge of the full scope of teacher responsibilities, including curriculum planning, lesson planning, instruction, demonstrations, laboratories, grading, parent teacher conferences and IEP meetings. I received a Provisional certificate for secondary education, which is for grades 6-12 in biology, chemistry and general science.
