I worked in the school system for over 20 years. I worked with elementary and primary age students for 16 years. I currently work in a high school as a Special Education teacher. I also have my CDL to drive school bus. I enjoy working with students on every grade levels. I have my Masters from Liberty University. I find out what the student likes and use it to help them learn.

The ability to demonstrate interpersonal skills and team leadership: I meet this qualification in such that it was demonstrated while working with the Los Angeles County Probationary Department as well as working with the youth in my church. I would counsel approximately two students per week and meet with about twenty to thirty on a Thursday evening on a volunteer basis for the Los Angeles County Probation Department. I also had an assistance to work with me and we would work together as a team to help develop these young people lives. Of course, this consisted of me working beyond my normal work hours just to be able to reach that student who felt they were completely a “nobody”, for it was more important to meet the student need rather than my own personal need of just wanting to go home. The act of being able to speak one encouraging word to the student was more important to me.

I use very much praise with students. Materials I use are varied. Books are often used. I ask students what they want to do. As a part of after school lessons I check on what students absolutely should do to meet requirements. Contact is made with other people to inform them of progress if needed. I have been teaching many years. I had a desire to teach many ages. As a teacher I desired to teach many subjects. Also I have done after school tutoring for several years. Computers are interesting to me. What I like best is the many things that can be done in after school lessons. I enjoy working on projects with students. Books are always useful.
