My comments on tutoring SAT - Math: SAT math is a cummulation of all mathematics learned in high school up to algebra 2. There are both free response and multiple choice questions on the test. I have a SAT practice book from college board that I would bring to the lesson.

I am a recent graduate of Rosamond High School. During my time there I took math all the way up to AP Calculus. I took the AP test, and am awaiting the results. I have a refined mathematical aptitude, and strong people skills. I may haven never tutored professionally, but I have helped many of my peers understands challenging mathematical concepts. Whenever someone was stumped they would come to me for help. Many of my peers tell me that I helped them get a high grade on a certain test or even in the class. When teaching a student, i try to help them understand the concept of the lesson before trying to explain the procedure. Once i have explained the concept to them, I show them how to work out the problem. Once I have walked them through a few problems, I let them try to do a couple on their own, until they get stuck. When they get stuck I try to reinforce the concept, while not actual ... read more

My desire is not to simply communicate information to students, but to accommodate material in such a way so that each individual student can learn a way that is easy and hopefully enjoyable. Not every student enjoys learning every subject, but I believe that an accommodating and understanding teacher, willing to work hard in order to make learning simple and useful, can give the student the necessary motivation and confidence to learn any subject well. Therefore, while I accommodate my teaching style to each student's needs and abilities, I always strive to teach in such a way where learning becomes a personal interest for the student as they expand their capabilities through engaging and struggling in the hard work that is education. Throughout my educational experience I have been committed to academic excellence. I recently graduated summa cum laude with a BA in English. My studies g

My teaching style is to lead the student into an understanding of the material through discussion, hands-on projects, practice and mastery. It is important to master the previous material before moving on to the new. It is also important to relate new topics to what the student already knows. This helps the student to not only understand it better but also to remember it better and use it correctly. I am patient and creative in finding ways to present ideas in ways that will connect with real life. I believe that all children can learn, given the right methods and the willingness to learn. I have a bachelor’s degree from UC Davis in Renewable Natural Resources and a Clear Single Subject Credential in Biological Sciences and Foundational Math (all but calculus). I have home schooled my children, worked in a private school both tutoring and teaching and taught in a public high school
