For the last 20 years I have been in Sales & Marketing for various large companies (additional detal available upon request). In many of my positions, I have been selected to conduct training within the organization on business specific tools plus sales skills For the last 5+ years I have mentored a young man through Big Brothers / Big Sisters. In college, I was selected as a Writing Tutor in the university Writing Workshop. I advised undergraduate and graduate students on writing style, grammar and other aspects of their written work. I still maintain it as one of the best jobs I have had.

I have grown a desire to work with children since my camp counseling job in 2004. I have been giving many opportunities to work with children due to my college training for a degree in education. I have found the balance between being a friend and authoritative figure with children through all of my experiences with children. I worked with the Minnesota Literacy Council tutoring adult learners in basic math and reading skills. I attempted multiple approaches with each person until we found one that allowed the learner to make sense of the symbols and language. I encouraged the ability to work at the material until the learner could make it his/her own in some way. I also trained new employees each month in the use of a software program at a pharmaceutical company. Employees were required to learn the program regardless of experience and ability with computer programs. I was challenged to engage disinterested employees, encourage frustrated employees, and meet the demands of highly inquisitive employees while maintaining focus on the required information.
