I was let go from a local company earlier this year. I have decided to make a career change and my goal is to teach math at the high school level. I have a year of college to be certified. I'm a full student at CCC, and will take the Pedagogy requirements at Elmira College. I intend to tutor and substitute teach this winter and spring during college. In industry, I was a Mechanical Engineer and spent time in management. I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering with a MBA. I spent ten years in the Army and National Guard. I am interested in tutoring because I love teaching regardless of the subject matter. My teaching style is one on one with students making continuous progress at their own paces. I love to work with elementary students aged ten and under. Working with non-tradionat students was fun and challenging. I had to relate to them differently (of course) from the younger kids.
I taught Office Technology to adults for ten years. I have been subbing K-6 for the past two years in local school districts. Adult educations consisted of computer applications, business math and English, filing, and job search skills. Now I work with kids who have difficulty in a traditional setting.
