Drawing is one of my top subjects! Drawing has been - and will continue to be - my lifelong passion. I graduated from Northern Virginia Community College in 2010 with an Associate's Degree in Fine Arts, and I am highly experienced in various types of media. I am also an experienced tutor, and I have a great desire to share what I have learned with others.

I have been drawing my entire life, and have successfully completed numerous high school- and college-level art courses pertaining to my major in Fine Arts. Throughout my studies, I have had extensive experience in life drawing, graphic design, animation, character and object design, and color theory. I am highly proficient in working with various types of media, including graphite, pen and ink, acrylic paint, colored pencil, and charcoal. I am a seasoned portrait artist with an affinity for capturing personal likeness, and have had the great privilege of tutoring several pupils in that area. Everyone is an artist.

I use a personalized and 'hands-off'/demonstration style of teaching. I dislike telling a student that there is a certain method they should use, instead preferring to suggest and show how I would approach a problem or get them to approach a problem differently than how they are at that moment.
I have been teaching for the past two years in the art field and related. I taught at TIC Summer camp in the summer of 2012 how to use the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, etc.). I am currently working with an after school program that teaches children between the ages of 6 and 12 what goes behind videogame creation.

Dedicated, patient, caring and knowledgeable are all the characteristcs that I would want in a tutor. Those are definitely characteristics that describe me. I have worked with children for the past 12 years in settings from private, public and special needs population. I enjoy working with children and teaching. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style varies based on the child that I am working with that time. I have worked with children with all different kinds of learning styles, so I have learned over the years that you have to be flexible and mindful of the specific child that you are working with. Through my experience I have learned to be more patient, understanding and fair when I am working with the children as well as when I am grading their assignments.
