A Little Bit About Me...

I really enjoy engaging the student in discussion of the topic and helping them experience the events in History rather than just remembering dates and locations.
I am currently pursuing a degree in secondary education with a specialization in American History. I have a passion for the subject and for helping students succeed. I just completed my practicum last fall and was active in a 10th grade World History class for about 10 hours a week. During the summer of 2011 I was employed at girl scout camp in Lake George where I planned and taught History lessons for our weekly programs. Both of my parents were teachers and I find myself sharing my knowledge with anyone who seems to need it. I believe children learn best when they can form a connection to their school work. Writing skills can be improved by using topics that are relevant to the student's life. When working on Reading skills I often use high interest topics such as the arts, sports, computers and science to encourage students to excel.
