Violin is one of my top subjects! I have played for 10 years, and I took private lessons for 8 years.

My main instrument is the violin. I have had two students total that I've taught in the past. I played in the school orchestra in middle and high school, also took private lessons at WKU. I also have played twice with the Western Kentucky University Symphony. I also teach piano, chording only. I am not classically trained on piano. I teach vocal. I also know basics on the flute that I am capable of teaching.

A Little Bit About Me...

The key to being a good teacher is being patient. I believe children learn best in a positive and stress-free environment. When a child does good on the work then I praise them and if they make a mistake then I explain to them the error in the homework. When I was a small child, I remember my teacher being patient and helping me along the way. I feel that although children learn in different ways and different paces that being patient with children is a universal and effective teaching style.
I am currently a Senior at Western Kentucky University majoring in Creative Advertising with a minor in Computer Information Systems. I have several years experience in tutoring children and I am a strong believer in education. I attended Middle Tennessee State University from spring 1993-fall 1997, graduating in Dec. 1997 (B.S. degree). My major is art educ., my minor is secondary educ. My teaching license was in art educ./K-12. I was a member of The Gamma Beta Phi Society, the top 15% of my class. My gpa was 3.2 and I won two scholarships. I did my student teaching at the Lebanon High and at the Las Cassas Elementary Schools in fall 1997. I taught art at Mt. Juliet Elementary School, and taught private adult & children’s art classes at An Invitation to the Dance studio in Murfreesboro and at the Murfreesboro Art League. I have tutored several students (math, guitar, riding, reading, art, etc.)and worked mostly in the graphic and fine arts for my living.
