German is one of my top subjects!

I started learning German during high school and studied the language through college to earn a degree. I spent the last year in Germany as an au pair to continue to develop my German language skills. During this experience, I spent a year with a host family and cared for three children who did not speak English. I continue to study the language daily, even if it is limited to reading online articles or short listening exercises.

German is one of my top subjects! Currently a German Studies graduate student. Have my B.A. in German Studies Have lived abroad in Germany for a total of 2 years. Attended a Gymnasium and lived with a German family. Congress Bundestag Youth Exchange Scholarship alumna.

I am currently working on my Masters in German Studies, as well as getting my teaching license. I have plans to go through the TEFL program to earn certification in teaching English as a Foreign language. I have been studying and teaching German/ESL since high school. I also lived abroad in Russia for sometime, and am continuing to learn Russian on my own. I can also teach the basics of the Russian language.
I like to speak, slowly and thoroughly, in the language I'm tutoring in. For example, I would conduct most lessons in German, but at a slow and comprehensive pace, so that students are able to "pick up" on the German language as if it were second nature. If there is an issue with miscommunication, I switch to English, and explain the concept again in German.

A Little Bit About Me...

As an undergraduate student at the University of Cincinnati, I took part in a wide variety of jobs, research positions, and opportunities. I earned a bachelor of science degree in Chemistry with a minor in German. My research experience allowed me to be the co-author of a published paper in the Journal of Physical Chemistry B. I also have been the only UC student accepted to the Steuben-Schurz-Gesellschaft, the world's oldest German-American Internship exchange program.
