My teaching style is relaxed. Students like how I am able to make writing fun with exercises to build their confidence, and improve their choice of words and clarify what they are trying to say.
I am passionalte about writing and have taught in K-12 for over 10 years. I have vast experience teaching writing at both high school and college level. I currently teach Composition classes at our local community college. I understand what is required of students to be successful in both high school and college. To be honest I have no experience in teaching outside of the college setting. The two years marked denotes my two years in upper division English classes at SVSU where student critiquing was the norm. Beyond helping my friends with their papers I took several classes on teaching and as such have academic experience, but not real world (ie K-12) experience. I have been in several writing workshops that cover a variety of English facets from research writing to creative writing to poetry. This spanned the second two years of my college career. I have also written stories of my own and had them critiqued by teachers and students, so I know firsthand what frustrations can result.

I am a creative teacher. I love to design my own lessons to engage students and compliment their learning styles. I have experience teaching traditional classrooms, but my passion is non-traditional education. I love working one-on-one with students or in small groups.
I graduated from Saginaw Valley State University with a degree in Secondary Education and am certified in the State of Michigan to teach 6-12th grade English and math. Along with completing student teaching, I have substitute taught in various districts as well as tutored homeschool students. I volunteer at my church as a Sunday School teacher, and during college I participated as a conversation partner in the English as a Second Language program.
