My teaching style varies upon subject and student.
I graduated from Jefferson High School in the spring of 2012. I now attend Indiana University-Purdue University in Fort Wayne. I have two younger siblings and 4 younger step-siblings that I have helped with their homework, or helped them better understand material assigned to them. Their ages range from 8-17. I know how to explain certain subjects in multiple ways to ensure that eventually the student will understand the material. I am very patient, and I understand that some people learn at slower rates than others. I am majoring in nursing, though I considered teaching English before making this decision. I love teaching, and am looking to make some extra money for things I need while in college.

A Little Bit About Me...

Having always been driven to achieve academic success, I received all A's throughout middle school and high school and was one of my high school valedvictorians. I then received full tuition to the University of Evansville and continued my academic success. My major required my to put in hours before and after the athletic teams practices and I have learned great time management skills as well as study skills. I tested out of all collegiate english, writing, and mathematics requirements. I have a natural ability to do well in math and science areas and enjoy writing.

Since I was in high school I have been teaching my sisters to get their way around with Science/Math/English. I realized my understanding more towards this subjects as I went teaching Students through out my Under graduation. I got admitted in Rochester Institute of Technology, NY as masters student along with teaching assistance. Students learn to write by writing (and by reading). I have used a number of different text books but I find that students learn best when writing about something that matters to them. My approach to tutoring, then, would be to find out what a student truly cares about and start from there. In addition, I would begin by taking a diagnostic writing sample in order to see what mechanical issues seemed most important to address. I would never attempt to tutor a student with some kind of formulaic, standardized regimen of study but would work my hardest to tailor tutoring sessions to the individual needs of each student.

Having two wonderful elementary teachers, I was inspired to become a teacher. I graduated in 1988 with an Elementary Education degree. I began my career as a teacher's aide but soon decided to be a stay-at-home mom to my two children. In 1994, I began to home teach my three children. I graduated my youngest in 2008. In 2004, I substitute taught for two local school districts. In spring 2008 I renewed my teaching license. I received my first teaching job at a Christian school in Indianapolis where I taught first grade. The school downsized so I resigned allowing the tenured teachers to keep their jobs.
