A Little Bit About Me...

Last May I graduated from Skidmore College with a degree in history. My passion for history has been driven by my voracious appetite for knowledge. Writing, reading, and critical thinking are of the utmost importance to me. Education is not only a means of acquiring future jobs but of a creating a nation of critical thinkers.
Growing up I dealt with dyslexia. I understand that each and every kid has a different learning style and not one style is better then the rest. I have been a 1st grade public education teacher for the past 9 years and I have been moved to 4th grade for this upcoming year. I have a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I was also awarded the Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year in 2008. I have taken many reading in-services in differentiated instruction, reading instruction, and literacy centers. I have also taken many in-services problem solving and critical thinking. I have tutored privately each summer and during the school year. I have tutored students who were out of school on an extended leave of absence and students who needed extra help in preparation for the NYS ELA in reading, math, and science.
