I have clepped out or aced all english classes at the college level and have found a great interest in writing and reading papers and essays. I am extremely familiar with both APA and MLA writing styles and have had numerous hours and years of practice writing papers and essays for my college level courses. I received a 1 on my MEAP writing and a 30 on my ACT writing/English section.
Al though I have never technically tutored or taught a child writing, I am interested in helping aid a child's learning experience. One of the reasons that I'm interested in tutoring is that, although I love working with individual students and small groups, I am less interested in classroom management, discipline and the rest of the duties that come along with substitute teaching. I have seen through substituting that there are many children who need extra attention to help them understand a certain subject. Tutoring will allow me to give them the one-on-one they need to learn something that is hard in a classroom setting. I like to connect with the children immediately and try to use examples of real-life situations to guide their learning.
