A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style with students of all ages is to facilitate their learning as opposed to simply feeding them what I feel is the best response. Students learning is maximized when they can take ownership of and pride in their work. I am very patient. Recognizing that all students learn differently, I seek to ascertain their learning styles and then adjust my tutoring style to that learning style.
I taught and tutored ESL two years before entering law school. I hae taught college classes as an adjunct and later FT professor at Penn College for 25 years. I currently serve as Career Outreach Coordinator for HACC-Lebanon Campus. I have tutored many students, particularly in areas such as writing essays. I have experience tutoring both young children and young adults in private and public settings. I spent a school year teaching two students in grades 2 and 5. I like to incorporate a sense of humor in my teaching - I believe when children can relax they are much more open to learning. A Little Bit About Me...

While teaching is not my main profession, I enjoy teaching because in most cases, I was able to build a level of confidence in my students. Often times I found that some people simply have a phobia about certain subjects. Once I am able to remove that by engaging the student to understand and think through a question, they are able to gain confidence and build on that.
