In essence, I didn't just study to pass my exams, I studied to understand the material so that I can be able to teach someone else. A Little Bit About Me...

I have tutored students in math and science (mainly math) for over 13 years. I have helped students in various levels of mathematics - basic math, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and pre-calculus. After working with me on a consistent basis (2/3 days/week) many of the students have received honors in their math courses, including "Most Improved" and "Highest Average". I am also proud to say that a couple of students have actually decided to pursue careers that require a good understanding of math - i.e. engineering, architecture.

I enjoy teaching and the think that every child has the ability to learn anything they want. Through my personal experience, I realize that some people have a harder time learning particular subjects than others. Admittedly, I have no direct (structured) teaching experience. However, I have nearly five years of experience in the journalism field, and during that time I've mentored a number of fledgling college and high school journalists. And while journalism and political science are my two specialties -- given that I have degrees in both -- I also have a fair amount of expertise in the tangential fields of English and History.
I do not have a particular teaching style because I don't believe that a single method works for everyone. Therefore, I operate from an Occam's Razor perspective -- whatever is the simplest solution is the best. During my Sophomore Year at College of Charleston I worked in the Math Lab tutoring all levels of classical mathematics up to Calculus III. I happened to be the only tutor who checked a box saying I could help high school students, and therefore worked with every family who called the college looking for a math tutor.
