A Little Bit About Me...

Although I am advanced as far as the subject areas I would be tutoring in are concerned, I am still able to present the content to the student in the unique way that they are able to understand it. This is important, since no two students think alike and, in my experience, a majority of students do have trouble with math and math-intensive sciences such as physics. Teaching is a means to find a student's misconceptions and correct them. I try to do this by engaging the students in conversation, asking them leading questions, or watching them work. I generally try to remain as friendly as possible with the tutee so that he/she can relax and learn in a comfortable environment. I work on a first-name basis and try to make sure that the student is LEARNING, rather than merely finishing his/her homework. I teach using a Platonic method, asking prodding questions and getting the tutee to figure out the material him/herself. Occasionally, I have to teach in a more stern and disciplined manner b/c the student is distracted or doesn't feel like doing the work.
