I have been tutoring at Forsyth Technical Community College since September 2008. I work on average, over the 5 years, 15 hours a week, but now working 21 hours a week since I am now out of school. I have done private tutoring for about 3 years now, either with people from met from school or from tutoring. I got a BS in both Mathematics and Computer Science in May of 2013. Math and computers have always been my strength, and when getting my degree, I would always help my friends in their classes. It depends on the student and what they are doing. As a first generation college student, I know the importance and significance education plays in one's life. In tutoring math, the individual needs to have their homework present and, if available, old/recent tests so they may learn from the past as well as the present. Math adds unto itself, so understanding previous rules and equations are necessary for applying them to future classes. As a student at UNC Charlotte I was also privileged to be a part of the schools track team. This experience gave me good time management skills and also gave me unique opportunities to help my fellow teammates on their math homework while away on meets. My senior year I began tutoring officially through the athletic department, where I still tutor occasionally. I have tutored multiple students in Computer Science, and basic Statistics courses.
