For the first three years out of the university, I was a school librarian, and was board certified K-12 by the Washington State Board of Education as a result of this experience. From 2006-2008, I have been tutoring writing at Northern New Mexico College, from 4th grade remedial level through college papers in all subjects. I am presently working in an Upward Bound program for 9th graders, to help increase their study skills. I believe that students need to be challenged. When they are highly challenged, they really produce. In my tutoring experience, my students' test scores rose two grade levels in ten weeks because they were challenged. Previously, these students were thought to not be able to speak, read, or write English, and were pre-testing at very low grade levels.

The greatest day of my life was achieving my Bachelors degree in Biological Chemistry from the University of Texas at Arlington. I always attempt to explain the beauty of mathematics to my students in hopes that they will develop the same admiration of the logic and order of mathematics and science. My tutoring will generally involve a brief explanation of theory and background, followed by one or two fully worked examples (if applicable). Then exercise problems or homework questions will be worked by the student. I encourage students to memorize the procedure of a solution.
