A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that each and every student has an ability to learn and it is necessary to find a method of teaching conducive to the individual. For example, I was a student that learned though hands on activities and writing. Having a teacher stand and lecture never appealed to me. Other children, and adults, may be more apt to retain through reading or repetition. It is important to identify a student’s strengths and weaknesses in order for them to get the most out of their academic careers. I am a very patient person and have a wide range of teaching strategies.

I have a Illinois Type 09 Certification, which is currently valid in McLean County. I have good grammar skills, and very good mathematical skills. I completed 2 semesters of Organic chemistry, 3 quarters of College Algebra, and 2 quarters of College Calculus (single variable only) I have had a lot of experience working with autistic students, behavior disorder students, and LD students, also.

A Little Bit About Me...

As an experienced K-12 substitute teacher, my work extended from the inner city to the county schools. I had the opportunity to instruct students with various ability levels and learning styles. During the 2008-2009 school term I served as an AmeriCorps VISTA in a middle school working as tutor, special projects assistant, and mentor. I hold a BS degree in Sociology and expect to earn a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction in 2010.
