A Little Bit About Me...

My original interest was teaching instrumental music. Although I changed majors and ultimately graduated with a BS in Computer Science, I have continued my interest in teaching, first by volunteer tutoring during college and later by helping adults learn to speak English. I eventually took an intensive summer course in teaching English to speakers of other languages, following which I spent over three years teaching conversational English in Central Asia. Upon returning to the States I worked for a few years for a literacy council, helping administratively and also teaching workplace English. I continue to play in orchestras and teach string instruments privately. I am in the process of completing a Master's degree in Teaching.

After graduation from college, I entered the Peace Corps and moved to the country of the Federated States of Micronesia. I have lived in that area of the world for most of my teaching career. I have taught for over twenty years gaining experience on almost every level of the educational ladder. I have taught K-5th grade. I have taught in middle school programs and I have taught in high school programs. I have taught in regular classroom programs and in special education programs. I have experience tutoring having worked in Saturday Extended Day programs for at risk learners for two years. I also did tutoring on my own for several years with adult learners and young children.
