I am relaxed, calm, and patient when tutoring. I use graphical, verbal and/or written methods dependent on the skill set and approach that is best for each student. I believe that every student has an innate ability to learn. It is the tutor's job to find out the approach that will yield the best results with each individual student.
I graduated with my Master's in Chemical Engineering in 1985 and have used that experience and my life experience to excel at the tutoring that I have done over the last 15+ years. I have tutored all levels of mathematics, high school and college Chemistry and SAT/ACT preparation and study. My education has been invaluable to my ability to help students excel.

I feel as an educator it is always important to learn from the students before you can teach them. The most necessary factor to success is being able to recognize just how the student learns and be able to take your teaching methods and adjust accordingly. Having had many good professors, teachers and tutors personally, I feel that this approach makes a world of a difference. I do try to mix things up in terms of teaching methods, once the subject seems to be sinking in, just to try to get students used to teachers or tutors who may not operate in this manner.
I have currently earned a bachelors degree, BS Physics, which has enabled me to gain an understanding in many areas of math and science. I prefer to work with small groups of students or individuals as it is easier to meet each student's needs. I am very concise and methodical, but am also sensitive enough to pace myself according to the student's needs. Of course, experience is the best teacher, so I usually review the points that the student has questions on, provide an example of the principles in action, and then help the student work through some problems until he or she understands satisfactorily. As such, I have found that I am very good at teaching math and math-based science as well as languages.
