My comments on tutoring Biology : Anything in general bio classes I can teach you, it was the foundation of my education.

I graduated from Berry College in May of 2021. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors in Science with Honors. My major was Animal Science with a minor in chemistry. I have worked on several research projects that are in the process of publication or being prepared for publication. I never made anything below an A on my physics and chemistry classes. My specialty is in animal science, chemistry, and physics. However, I can teach lower to middle level mathematics. I am currently enrolled as a first year veterinary student at the University of Florida.
I am a very personable teacher and I like to modify my teaching approach to each student. I also employ a variety of disciplines to help facilitate a better understanding of the subject being learned.

Biology is one of my top subjects! I can tutor students for high school Biology (including AP) and college level biology I and II.

I am a big proponent of the theory of multiple intelligences and believe that each student has certain styles of learning that work best for them. I aim to help students figure out how they learn best. Once they realize where their strengths are, they can incorporate the concept into all of their studies, not just the subject for which I happen to be tutoring them.
I have tutored a wide variety students on many subjects. I am most experienced tutoring high school students for the SAT. I worked with Let's Get Ready, a non-profit organization dedicated to preparing high school students for the SAT and their college search process. I typically tutored students for the Math section, but I am capable of tutoring for the Critical Reading and Writing sections as well. Some of my other tutoring experiences have been with middle and high school students. I have tutored several students in ... read more

Biology is one of my top subjects!

I am a graduate of Tennessee Temple University, with experience tutoring at Tennessee Temple University, as well as University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, in various topics, including biodiversity, mathematics (up to pre-calculus), history, and American Sign Language. I continue to study in my personal time as many topics as possible, with the belief that a good tutor is firstly a good student.
I allow my teaching style to mold itself to each individual student, finding methods of communicating the information that best suit the learning style of my student. I favor a holistic approach to learning, believing that education should be of the whole person. If a student learns how a skill in his tutoring session can be applied in real life, then his or her perception of the subject may fundamentally improve.

I respect children because I find I can learn just as much from them as they can from me. I believe an important step in becoming a good student is self-confidence; because of this, I try to be as motivating and encouraging as possible to my students. I also try to make learning fun, highlighting how interesting a certain concept may be or how practical it is to daily life. I am patient and friendly, so that students can feel comfortable with me and not feel shy to tell me when they do not understand something. My goals are 1) to help students enjoy learning and 2) to help students realize that with hard work and dedication they can accomplish their goals.

I believe in the model, "each one reach, each one teaches one." I enjoy teaching children and feel that due to the fact that english was not my first language I'm extremely patient with teaching children. I believe in constant positive reinforcement when it comes to teaching and I also believe in creativity. Finding out what a child's interest are and applying it to what they are learning helps them understand the lessons being taught.
As an alum of Penn State University, I participated in various programs which I tutored students from high school to college level. The summer of my freshman year at Penn State, I tutored high school students in math and science for Upward Bound Math and Science. I also became a Teacher's Assistant for Sociology my junior year of undergraduate studies. My duties as a teacher's assistant consisted of planning and implementing course lectures, le ... read more

There is not a best way to teach. Each child learns in a unique way for each subject. Some can learn easier if the lesson is put to music and they can learn a song or dance that embodies the knowledge. Others learn it if they can write it or color a picture of it. Involving all senses, smell and touch as well, can make lessons more concrete to the student. I have gained more patience and understanding with learners’ differences as I have aged and had more experience with the uniqueness of individuals. I encourage questions as a way to pinpoint where the student is confused which then allows me to go over that specific area of the lesson slowly and more clearly. I believe in the cooperative nature of learning.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have a B.S in Animal Biology. I have had to take extensive science and math courses. Additionally, I have extensive experience working with children. Especially those that are from low income families and different cultures. I have volunteered tutoring children after school. Additionally, I have taken several classes about learning styles, teaching styles, and study skills to improve my own academic achievement. This allows me to better communicate information in the different ways needed. Following, I have experience working with children with learning disabilities, particularly autism.
I really like working with children from low income families. I think each child has a different interest and way of learning. I try to discover these learning styles before I begin the tutoring process. I try to allow them to be comfortable and having fun during our sessions. Most of t ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching because it allows me to contribute to a student's understanding of invaluable concepts which will improve and enrich their lives. I am sociable and easy to talk to, and I remember what it was like being in school and struggling with difficult concepts. All students can learn, and I believe that the key is finding a way for each individual student to personally relate to the material. If difficult concepts can be presented in a way that is tailored to each student's specific needs and interests, their potential may be reached.
As a graduate of the University of Florida, I earned two bachelor's degrees.
