I have also home schooled adopted daughters from lower grades to high school level, including teaching English as a second language. Geography is one of my top subjects!

I am graduating high school this year and I am the oldest of three children. My sister is in first grade and my brother is in PreK. After school we come home and work on homework and sight words. I have babysat family friends and neighbors for three years now. I completed two years of Early Childhood Education classes with a built-in VPK. In this program, we designed and taught our own lesson plans for the children in VPK. I have experience working with children ages 3-5 and teaching science, social studies and math skills. I am also certified in CPR.
I am patient and treat kids with the same respect I am given. since I am young, I believe teaching kids will be easier because I can understand any troubles they may be having and the material is fresh in my head.

I love to teach and help all children. I believe that each child has a different learning style, and I know that not every child should have to learn in just one way. I believe in hands-on activities to teach children. I believe that all children can learn as long as they are having a positive learning experience.
As an elementary education major I have been given the experience in working with different grades in my internships. I have also learned and applied elementary school material. I was given the chance to observe the different ways of teaching and was given a chance to help students in small and large groups.

I have taught 6th grade reading for 2 years in a Lee County Middle School. I was given a "Programmed curriculum both of the years I was there. The first year I used the "Language" program and the second year I used the "Treasures" program . I also worked with residents of residential programs, while I was employed there as an officer assisting them in learning to read and write.
I try to present the information in an "entertaining way" and institute a great deal of student involvement. I have seen this approach work well with a number of students who were behind in my classes.

A Little Bit About Me...

Twenty-five years of service as a Christian educator allows me to offer experience, wisdom, and commitment to my students. I hold permanent New York State certification for nursery - sixth grade. Besides teaching fifth and sixth graders full time for thirteen years, it has also been a blessing to teach at every level from pre-kindergarten to adult education. One on one teaching opportunities have always been part of my ministry. The following are programs for which I have tutored: LaGuardia Community College, Ronkin Education Group, and Huntington Learning Centers. My students have been successful by learning hands on math concepts, higher level thinking in the content areas, and development of language skills.
Each person is wonderfully made! I strive to find what learning styles will nurture the maximum academic growth for each student. Patience, persistence, flexibility, en ... read more

I have taught for 20+ years in Germany (mainly Math, English and Reading) and for 4 years in Kansas City, MO. There I taught all core subjects: Math, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies. Right now I have got several part time jobs: I work as a sub at a colligiate high school (all subjects), I will teach German at the Edison College in Fort Myers (Continuing Education) and I tutor for a private company doing SES tutoring - Reading and Math. I have prepared young people to do their GED, too. The subjects I did there were Math, Science and American History.
I love educating children and adults and strongly believe in lifelong learning. Since I have taught at several levels and even in different countries, I use different teaching techniques. My goal is to help the learner to get the best education possible.

I love learning, and was a member of the National Honor Society while in school. I believe every child has the potential to become an outstanding student and to enjoy attaining goals. I feel that the biggest obstacle to learning is often in the delivery of the message, rather than the inability to grasp a new concept. I am a patient and easy going teacher, striving to model myself after the teachers who were inspirational to me. During my professional appointments, the most rewarding part of my jobs was the ability to mentor and train others in the skills and knowledge I had gained over the years, which enabled them to become outstanding assets to our teams.
I have earned two bachelor degrees, a BS in Biology and more recently, as BS in Information Systems, graduating with honors. As such, I have a thorough understanding of math, science and computer concepts, as well as a str ... read more

As a graduate on December 13th, I have learned more about being a teacher than I ever could have dreamed. My professors, mentors, peers, and most important, students have taught me how to be a great teacher. I have been through three internships in the elementary classroom, coached gymnastics for three years, and tutored for one year. Each experience has taught me that students learn in many different ways and it's up to me to find that unique way they learn.
My teaching style is all about the children that I am teaching. They lead me to be the teacher they need to help them learn. I like to think that my basics are lead by good classroom management techniques, cooperative learning strategies, and positive behavior support systems. The students will determine what the best techniques will work and I will adapt to their needs. I like to teach through exploration and lots of h ... read more

An underlying emphasis of my career, either as a teacher, principal or superintendent, has been a focus on helping challenged students. Beyond several years teaching and serving as an administrator at many levels within the educational field, I have taught and tutored students both in the U.S. and China. Since retiring, I have mentored students with the emphasis on, again, helping challenged students achieve to their best capacity. Perhaps my greatest skills, other than motivating students, is to aid students in learning language, writing, and basic English skills.
"You can do it! We are going to figure this out and learn it." I am a motivator. Even at my age I can relate to even the youngest child and get them excited about learning. For me, the joys of life are found watching youngsters overcome barriers and begin to achieve.

I love teaching and working with children of all ages, especially at the elementary and middle school level. I know that my job is not done until the student I am tutoring fully understands the subject matter. I believe students learn best through exploring the material at their own pace and applying life experiences to the material at hand. When I am teaching students I am both patient and considerate, as I know that the material can be difficult to learn.
During my years in High School, I participated in various programs that involved tutoring students in reading and language arts. I have also tutored friends and family throughout the years in reading, math, and history. As a current student at the University of South Florida I help fellow classmates with homework as often as I can. I currently hold my AA from Manatee Community College and will graduate from USF with my BA in Dec ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

The joy of teaching is finding interesting, enjoyable methods for children to learn necessary skills & knowledge. I believe all children can be successful learners when their learning style is taken into consideration. Finding ways in which a student can practice particular skills & integrate concepts into activities that are meaningful to them is the enjoyable challenge. The key to this approach is in getting to know the student, adapting the methods by which a student learns and then practices a skill set or knowledge base. I am successful when the student makes the information their own. Parents are a child's first teacher and my partner in helping a child enjoy the success and joy of learning.
As an educator my passion is helping children become successful learners. I hold both a BS and M.Ed in elementary education with specializations in curriculum & instruction along with ear ... read more

The specialization for my second master’s degree in Adult Education was Teaching and Learning. The focus was learning styles. Therefore, I am well aware of the different learning styles that each individual utilizes to learn and comprehend. Learning is facilitated when that specific learning style is identified and then implemented. Every student has the ability to learn. However, we all learn differently and at different rates. Once the learning style is identified and the learning rate is taken into account, learning can be accomplished.
I have a long and varied background in the educational field. I earned a master’s degree in elementary education in 1970 and a second master’s degree in adult education in 2007. I taught elementary grades in the New York City school system for six years. I was a college administrator for 20 years at for-profit, career colleges. Throughout that t ... read more

I believe that knowledge is one of the most important facet in developing a successful life. One of my favorite joys is to see another person learn something new and to make use of that knowledge in his life or career. Without education one is severely handicapped in the development of becoming a complete person. Education is the key. Realizing that people are all different, I am flexible in my teaching methods, slowing down or speeding up my delivery and/or the complexity of the material with each student. I believe that course development should be goal-oriented so that when the student progresses to successful completion of that goal, there is a sense of achievement.
I served 20 years in the Navy, and during that period earned my BS Degree. Many of my assignments were in development and institution of training programs including Equal Opportunity/Race Relations, Leadership and M ... read more
