Math can be fun and interesting if you have the right tools!

I enjoy using a variety of techniques with my students. We play games, use various software programs, and other helpful one on one devices to assist students in understanding and remembering concepts.
I have served as a guidance counselor in middle schools for almost forty years and retired in December, 2013. During the last twelve years, I have tutored students in math in groups and individually. Hello, I have a bachelors in Elementary Education from the University of South Florida. I have taught in three schools around the county, differing in academic and socio-economic levels. I have personally taught grades K-4, but am certified to teach up to grade 6. I also have experience in SES and ESOL classes. Computer and other skills available, what I know I share.

I go with the styles that fit the student. I generally use the first couple of visits to assess what works best for the student and then work with the student in a calm and patient yet firm manner. I do not try to force results, every student learns differently and has different aptitudes. Therefore, it wiser not to push the student too hard for results, rather I push myself to find new and inventive ways to help students learn the material.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have taught for 20+ years in Germany (mainly Math, English and Reading) and for 4 years in Kansas City, MO. There I taught all core subjects: Math, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies.
