I have worked with children and teens all my life. I was a camp counselor at a YMCA camp for 6 summers in my teens and early 20s. I taught 5th grade my first year (class of 36 students!) and then taught 3rd grade for a year, 2nd grade for three years, and 4th grade for three years--all in public schools. Then I taught English at the middle school level for four years in a private school. After that I subbed and tutored for a year until I was hired to teach in a K-8 building at the 8th grade level. I taught there for nearly 20 years before I retired, teaching science, pre-algebra, and communication arts (English, reading, vocabulary, writing, grammar, and spelling.) A Little Bit About Me...

As an education graduate, I am looking forward to helping children achieve their goals in education. For the past seven years I have been in classrooms ranging from first through fifth grade. I tutored a second grader my senior year in high school and is now teaching two year olds in an early education facility. My first teaching experience was as a high school senior where I was given the opportunity to teach a small group of 5th graders as part of the Missouri A+ program. We began with division, quickly moving into linear and nonlinear algebra, before touching on the fundamentals of complex numbers, graph theory and trigonometry, before concluding with a derivation of the quadratic formula and its applications. I believe that all children want and try to do their best, but sometimes need an extra push.
