My comments on tutoring Poetry : Graduate studies in English and American Literature. Experience teaching resistant learners in this area in public and private settings

After attending (and teaching in) a graduate program in American/British Literature and Language at L.S.U., I realized that my true calling was teaching. I began teaching English, Journalism, S.A.T. Prep., Latin, and other subjects in Springfield, MA in 2003 in an alternative, urban high school. I taught (and tutored after school) until I moved to Florida in 2009, when my spouse began graduate studies at U.S.F. Since then, I have continued to tutor a wide range of students in subjects ranging from high school Latin, 5th grade Math, college English, S.A.T. and G.E.D. I also like the use or repetition in order to memorize. I like to give weekly tests on the subjects studied and implementing the reward system. You do well on the test, you get a reward. Experiential Education tries to find ways to help the student discover an answer instead of being given an answer and makes learning hands on and relevant to the student's own life. As a student at New College of Florida I studied Literature and Sociology before writing an undergraduate thesis on Outdoor Education.
