I graduated Magna Cum Laude from USC with a degree in Business and have spent six years as an actuary working in a professional and math-oriented field for major firms (Blue Shield and Mercer). I have a strong background in math dating back to high school where I scored an 800 on the SAT math section as a junior. I also bring experience working with youth. I tutored math to junior high, high school and college students off and on during past decade. I am a qualified teacher originally from Australia now living in Modesto. I am a graduate from the University of Tasmania in Launceston, Australia. I have taught the 6th grade for 6 years in Australia and I also taught in a high school in London. I have also worked as a private tutor for students from the 3rd through to the 9th grade. As a full time classroom teacher I have been responsible for all aspects of teaching classes of 30+ students including the planning, implementation and assessment of learning.

I taught for twenty five years at the middle school level mostly in a self contained sixth grade classroom. In addition to teaching reading, English, math, science,and social studies, I taught electives is video filming and remedial reading. In my experience as a teacher, I discovered that all students can learn if they are properly motivated. I found that I could best motivate a student if I found what they were interested in, and what grade level they were working at. I also worked for five years as a substitute teacher.
