I enjoy teaching very much. I think a strength trying to use a student's active content or prior knowledge to connect to material. My attempts are always to make the student feel empowered by the education process. If you can connect to way what they are into, either cartoons, hip-hop, popular culture, with conservative humor, then sometimes you can gain their understanding much quicker. My teaching methods are rather basic. I respect the student, and I encourage the student. I have found that reward goes much farther than ridicule or punishment when motivating a student to believe in themselves, and thus excel. I also teach the importance of information. What I mean by that, is that I teach the student why the information they are learning is relevant to the real world, I don't teach to a test. I have worked as a teacher assistant, home visitor and a teacher for a combination of 6 years of developing and nurturing the minds of child. This school year as site supervisor I had to tutor the students in algebra,geometry and science. I created a ABC flip book to assist in my students learning the alphabets when I was a home visitor.
