A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style with students of all ages is to facilitate their learning as opposed to simply feeding them what I feel is the best response. Students learning is maximized when they can take ownership of and pride in their work. I am very patient. Recognizing that all students learn differently, I seek to ascertain their learning styles and then adjust my tutoring style to that learning style.
I taught and tutored ESL two years before entering law school. I hae taught college classes as an adjunct and later FT professor at Penn College for 25 years. I currently serve as Career Outreach Coordinator for HACC-Lebanon Campus. I have tutored many students, particularly in areas such as writing essays. I also served as a reader for the SAT Writing section, so I am familiar with what they are seeking. I am very proficient in grammar and structure.

Learning is a lifelong process!

My very first year of teaching was at the Lehigh Valley Performing Arts High School, and I also taught for two years at Northern Lehigh High School. Currently, I am resigned and staying home, but looking to work part time. I have experience teaching grades 7-12 and working with all types of students. My teaching style is aimed toward getting the student to master the skill for the long term. It is my belief that a lot of teaching is to the state tests; students do not retain skills when that is done, and the concepts for reading and writing, have to be retaught. I teach the student to look for the question being asked, and to answer it fully. I teach the student how to read critically, and look at the structure of writing and how it is put together to achieve its purpose.
