I took high school and college seriously. After college I worked for several years before attending law school. After law school I decided to combine my legal experience with hands-on medical skills, and I enrolled in a Registered Nurse program at SUNY Delhi, which I will complete next May. This summer is a lull before completing my education and embarking on a medical administration career.
I believe effective learning can occur in a 1-on-1 tutoring situation when the tutor and the student can communicate well. Tone, mood, and setting all come into play. A tutor who is relaxed, cheerful, encouraging, and resolutely intelligent is more likely to be approachable and someone the student will collaborate with successfully. I believe in active listening and working together to establish a method of studying.

As a senior working on my Bachelors in communication. I have worked with many students through the local boys and girls club of sidney, NY tutoring them in English hel them to prepare the proper for writing papers from creating an introduction and a thesis statement, to making thier main points and sub points to writing the summary. I would like to gain more expierence in working with High School students and maybe some College Students who need help in these Areas
MY teaching style is to work with those who need my help. I believe that anyone can be taught and that sometimes it is just a question of developing thier self esteem to believe in themselves. I believe as an educator you have to understand the topic you are teaching and the students your are teaching. As a teacher you are dealing with various levels of learning as well different personalities. I believe you have to be open to what works for the individual and the classroom. Many young students do not understand why they must learn and why it is important. We as educators must show students how education applies to all life, especially theirs.
