My comments on tutoring Spelling : I have taught spelling and phonics in the classroom.

I prefer the Socratic method of asking/answering questions and discussion, but I am more than capable of diverting to a more lecture style of teaching if that is what works with the student. I tailor my teaching style to the strengths of the student.
I am a teacher with 7 years of classroom experience. My degree is in English, but I have taught in many other areas, including math, history, logic, and rhetoric. I have also tutored many students in grammar and writing, as well as Algebra I and II. Phonics and help for dyslexic students

While homeschooling my boys, I invented new ways to teach them to read. These methods turned out to be helpful to many students. I've taught children how to read for about 5 years. I wrote a series of books to give teachers methods to teach phonics in creative ways, published through Creative Teaching Press. I've published mountains of curriculum. Formerly, I was the editor for the weekly education section for the "Denver Post." Now I am especially interested in helping children who have reading problems, particularly those who have or may have dyslexia.

A Little Bit About Me...

My twelve years of teaching experience includes: -typical classroom jobs at public and private schools in Alabama and Tennessee, -substituting in elementary schools in Oklahoma, -kindergarten aide stints, -and tutoring freshmen guys in college!
