I really starting to help tutor people in high school. I found out that I enjoy helping people with there challenges and watching them succeed. I believe that when teaching or tutoring someone that you find a method that works for that person. I'm a strong believer in the Gardner's ideas of many different learning styles and types of intelligent. Some students are better audio, tactile, or visual learners. As a recent graduate and former tutor I still have a strong drive for learning and helping others to learn. I had two areas of study while attending college, they were Business and accounting. During this time I took several math, business, and writting classes giving me a good balance in all skill areas. Since my elementary years I've always been a student driven to succeed and pursue higher levels of education. Recently I've graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering which has enabled me to gain an understanding in many areas of math and science. I believe the best way to learn is peer-to-peer learning. As an auto-didact I have the study skills necessary to regurgitate information as taught by the current institutional models. This is an uncreative and highly unnatural way to learn. There's a reason no major discovery was made in a classroom -- true innovation, discovery and learning is an organic process.
