I began my teaching career by substituting and volunteering at the local schools. I then completed my degree in Middle Grades Education in Social Science. When I began teaching, I taught Reading 3 of the 5 years I taught and fell in love with it. I am currently trying to complete my Reading Endorsement and follow up with a Reading Specialist degree.

Though I graduated with a BS in Secondary English Education, I have tutored and worked with students from elementary to secondary levels. From 2003-2008 I taught English and a little Spanish in both public and private schools, endeavoring to give my fullest and best to teaching all students who came across my path. Teaching in a U.S. public school and at a private institution overseas introduced me to a variety of students from different backgrounds, learning styles, and study habits. In 2005 I graduated from the University of West Florida, earning a BA in psychology with a 3.5 GPA. During that time I was vice president of an on-campus meditation group that lead people in meditation and relaxation techniques. I have assisted many people with tutoring for various types of academic and placement tests, e.g, ASVAB, ACT and SAT, as well as college placement tests for english and math. I have excellent proof-reading/grammar/writing skills and an understanding of APA and MLA formatting. I have experience working at a military base college branch as an advisor/field representative and have gained experience with financial aid and degree planning.
