As the son of a teacher, education has always been an important part of my life. For the past 25 years I have had the pleasure of working with youth in many different capacities. I have coached, mentored, tutored and taught all ages. After receiving my teaching certificate in 1998, I spent a few years working as a substitute teacher teaching in all subject areas for all grades. I have found that tutoring sessions are most effective when they are fun! Many students find it difficult to stay focused, especially after a full school day. For this reason, I prefer to change tasks frequently and use a variety of fun games to switch up the pace of the session. Learning can be frustrating for many students when a particular subject does not come as naturally or easily as other subjects. Thus, I do my best to incorporate student's interests into reward systems and constantly give the student positive feedback about their progress to help motivate the student.
