I will only be taking elementary kids as students!

I am currently enrolled in highschool but I tutored many of my cousins for the past several years so I'm great with young kids! Graduate student looking to help students achieve their goals!

I have tutored children off and on since I was in high school. More recently, my time has been spent volunteering with The Giving Tree, where I tutored inner-city children after school and helped organize activities (museums, zoo, etc.) on the weekends. Basic Learning Skills is one of my top subjects! I received homework every day throughout the grades first through 12th. I was compelled to organize my study time to be prepared for the next day at school.

I have limited experience in tutoring. The experiences include tutoring student nurses in the clinical facilities and in the Fundamentals of Nursing. When I worked with the students in the facilities, I would always demonstrate an organized way of assessing a patient from head-to-toe. I would ask a patient to agree to this procedure. I explained exactly what I would be doing. I emphasized that all the clinical students (males and females) would be watching and asking me questions. I would then type up (document) the findings and give each student a copy.
However best the student learns. I believe in "hands-on" whenever this is feasible.

Everyone learns in different ways so it's important to me that I get to know the students first. That way I can differentiate the lessons for each student. I have also learned that students are more engaged when it's a subject matter that they care about. Of course it's not realistic that this will always be the case. I have had a variety of experiences as a teacher. I, at first, worked as a substitute for about 3 years. Then I worked as a 3rd-grade teacher in a private school for one year. Because of enrollment that position was cut. I went back to subbing for a time. From 2004-2009 I have worked for the Dallas School District as a personal tutor.
