This system also translates to teaching. The last step is the most important; it forces the student to think for him or herself and instills confidence that the problem is not beyond his or her level of understanding. It is very important to teach students how to figure things out for themselves – probably the most important lesson I learned at UVa. My experiences have spanned all ages and types of children's learning abilities. From a church setting, to a public school to a driver training car. After watching a documentary on teachers teaching in the inner city, I decided to switch my major from Pre-Law to Elementary Education.
