I believe that every child has the ability to be a successful learner, and I enjoy watching my students grow and improve at different paces. My goal is to make each child feel comfortable in their learning environment, while challenging each student according to their level of ability. I respond well to students who become easily frustrated, and adjust my teaching style accordingly. It can only take one teacher to make a difference in a child's educational path. I recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin River Falls with a BS in Marketing Communications. My minor area of study while at River Falls was Psychology, and over the course of my college career, my interest in the topic has developed into a career goal. As a graduate from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, I have been well prepared in my chosen fields. I have bachelor degrees in both Exercise & Sport Science: Fitness, and Spanish, through which I have acquired a vast knowledge of health and fitness. I have also studied abroad in Spain, and lived and worked in Lima, Peru for 6 months upon graduation from college. This has exposed me to the Hispanic culture, increased my Spanish skills, and given me experience teaching English to speakers of other languages. While attending the University of Minnesota, I deepened my relationship with the visual arts. I extensively studied two-dimensional art in the areas of Sumi ink painting, watercolor, charcoal drawing, oil and powder pastel rendering, graphite sketching and printmaking; focusing on intaglio, aluminum and stone lithography. Though I have little experience teaching or tutoring in visual art, I do have teaching experience in dance, skin-care and color cosmetics. My past teaching experience is directly applicable to the teaching of studio art and will be an asset when teaching young students.
