Algebra I is one of my top subjects!

Hello, I graduated for UC - College of Engineering in 2003 and have taken required coursework in math and science. In the past, I have tutored math to family, friends, co-workers and at a learning center as part-time employment. I can effectively tutor Algebra I & II, geometry, trigonometry and lower math within the math sector. Furthermore, I have taken required coursework in chemistry, physics and other sciences at the college level and could tutor many of these subjects as well with limited "refreshing" time needed. I am confident I can be of value to you in certain subject areas of math and science. My rates are very reasonable and I will be happy to work around your schedule. Please call (859)441-7638 Thank you. Tony

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been tutoring mathematics in the Cincinnati area since 1997. I have worked with students ranging from elementary school through college level. From 2010-2014, I taught math and science full time at a local Catholic school. In Fall of 2014, I completed my student teaching at a local high school. In January 2015,I received my MA in Math Education along with my state teaching certification. The subjects that I have taught include: elementary math, pre-algebra, algebra, pre-calculus, calculus, trigonometry, geometry, statistics, general chemistry, and physics.
I typically will meet with students in their home or at a local library. I prefer that the student bring their books and notes from class so that I may see what the student needs to work on.

Inspired Educational Help!

I first want to start out by saying that I have a passion for what I do. I have over seven years of experience as a tutor and mentor and it has been a very rewarding experience. I am currently a Secondary/Special Education Graduate student and am enjoying the process of learning more about the field. I received a BBA in Accounting and History in 2009, so I also have a background in Business. I will always be glad and willing to tutor in any class dealing with Business as well.
I consider myself a very patient tutor, which I think is essential to the process. That said, I usually offer the student a few options in which to learn the material. I then let them decide which option makes the most sense to them. I believe Education and learning is a very personal process, which is why it should be tailored to each individual differently. *I am available to help with homeschooling stu ... read more

Math is FUN and EASY!!!

My principles are 1. Engage the student as much as possible 2. Stimulate the student's interest on the subject 3. Make sure the student understands every step along the way by asking leading questions and having the student show his/her understanding. 4. Try not to give out answers directly and help the student find the solution instead. 5. Make the subject as fun as possible!

Learning offers many worlds that have yet to be discovered

Hi, I am an experienced math tutor in all levels. I have tutored from basic algebra to college calculus courses and differential equations. I have a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Maryland. My objective as a teacher is to ensure each student learns the material with a high proficiency. It is my understanding from personal experience that each student learns differently. I am looking forward to working with your child.
I have an adaptive teaching style meaning I utilize different techniques (i.e. visual aids) to cater to the learning niche of my students.

My comments on tutoring Algebra I : Algebra can be easy! There is no reason why students should have to struggle with it. I've seen many reasons why students haven't gotten an A in it, and that's usually because they just aren't focused or can't seem to get motivated. Another problem with Algebra has been making connections with real life. It's very hard for a lot of kids to "get into" something when they can't see the use of it. Those real-world connections really need to be made.

I am very active in the classroom and I believe in making learning fun and enjoyable. There are so many ways to help children learn, yet many of them are not used for one reason or another. If information must be memorized, I like to put it to song or a rap. Other methods of learning that are very useful are concept maps, discussions, and performing. Another very successful method that I've employed is having the student actually teach me rather than me teach the student. It is VERY effective.
I've got around 8 years of college and university work under my belt, and I am getting ready to finish a BA in Elementary Education from Western Governors University. I love teaching. I got the teaching bug while teaching English as a Foreign Language in China. I taught there for almost 9 years altogether, 1 year in Beijing, 7 years in Tianjin, and 1 year in Taiwan. A Little Bit About Me...

I don't have a formal experience of teaching in a class, but i do have a lot of experience from teaching my fellow classmates and occasionally teaching in front of the whole class. Its actually easier for me to teach one on one since I think I can give the student all the personal attention they need and will be able to devote more time inorder to make them understand the subject and master it. I could also give them easier ways to help them capture and master the subject.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have tutored highschool algebra and chemistry for family and friends for the last 25 years. I have also worked for a certified tutoring service where I helped students with math and science at their place of residence. I teach the subject matter to the student by ensuring that they are engaged in the problem solving process. This is accomplished by working closely with them and continuously questioning them to assist them in working through the problem solving process. The amount of assistance is dependent on the student's knowledge and varies according to their individual needs.
I work with the student by engaging them in the problem solving process.

My comments on tutoring Algebra I : I received my minor in Mathematics from the University of Arizona in 2011.

I have taught two sections of an introductory biology laboratory (Bio181) at the University of Arizona in 2011. Each section is three hours long and I prepare the lectures and weekly quizzes. I also grade lab reports, computer assignments, lab projects and hold office hours for two hours each week. In addition, I attend a three-hour organizational weekly meeting with other instructors and the course director (Bruce Patterson). I have also been a teaching assistant for Cell Biology (MCB410). I attended all lectures, held office hours each week, graded quizzes and exams. I received my Bachelors Degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology in 2011 with a minors in Mathematics and Chemistry. The following year I received my Masters Degree from the University of Arizona in Molecular and Cellular Biology. Strong emphasis on problem solving as a route to learning in either math or physics, since that's where rubber meets road. I stress that students understand fundamental terms and definitions, since trouble in problem solving and school exams is often rooted in confusion about basic terminology and rules involved in vector math, momentum, etc. Can tutor either one on one or in small groups. The plus side of small groups is that students still get lots of individual attention, but can also tackle group problem solving activities (and I may be able to offer a discounted tutor rate). Can meet with students at home or library area.
I have formal classroom teaching experience as well as experience as a one-on-one tutor. I've served as an adjunct instructor in physics University of Cincinnati for 5 years teaching undergraduate physics. This involves teaching basic math skills such a ... read more
