My teaching experience includes elementary, home bound, tutoring, middle school English, and self-contained special education. Later, I began substitute teaching in the English department at Boys Ranch High School, a facility providing care for children who have removed from their homes. As a result, I completed 41 graduate hours in English at West Texas A&M University, and attended Cambridge University in the United Kingdom in Shakespearean studies. I tutored students for profit and as a volunteer, areas of competence in tutoring include English and Language Arts, Reading, and Social Studies, and History. I graduated from Wayland Baptist University. I earned a BS degree in Molecular Biology with a minor in Chemistry. While studying I was highly involved in student organizations that valued pre-college studies to students at various ages. We traveled to different schools from Texas to New Mexico showing students the wonders of science through mathematics, biology, and chemical demonstrations. These demonstrations allowed students to engage the student by visualizations and hands-on activities. I was also engaged in free tutoring to my peers. I have mostly tutored biology and chemistry. My proudest moment as a tutor was when a student came to me in mid-semester with a “F” on biology. I adapt individual tutoring techniques to each student’s specific needs and learning style. I teach study skills that students can use the rest of their academic career. I am patient, caring and supportive to each student. I am available for home work emergencies and pretest studies. I prefer to work with student and parents as a team with open communications. While attending college I tutored fellow students in Literature, History and Political Science. I was able to help failing students achieve a minimum of passing grades while some excelled to A’s in their class. I raised six children and not only did I spend many hours helping my own children with their home work I also helped neighbor children complete theirs as well.
