I have had a passion for reading all of my life. I pursued a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Wisconsin, which I received in 1973. I have taught children of all ages and disabilities in all academic areas. I prefer working with younger students. I have been published in a national education journal, "The Clearinghouse." I had an assistantship to an ecucation professor at the University of Iowa, where I received my master's degree in special education. I have woeked in small-group and one-to-one settings. Because of my elementary background, it is safe to say I am a very patient person and I use that skill in my ability. I allow the children to create their own paths and when there are roadblocks we work together to find a solution. I am not in the habit of giving students the answers. I feel education is most effective when self discovery is involved and I want my students to feel that they are learning and achieving in every way possible. All students are capable of success; some just need more guidance than others.
My teaching experience has been primarily focused on elementary education, however I have tutored freshman in English and History. I have a degree in psychology from St. Ambrose in Davenport and finished my licensure at Ottawa University in Phoenix. I am certified to teach K-6 in Arizona and I have applied for Iowa certification.
