History and English: NOT BORING! RELEVANT!!

Motivation. Hard work is made even harder when we don't enjoy the subject; for example, History can easily become boring and impossible to follow for young, energetic minds. When these events are brought to life, however, and made personally relevant to the student as part of our shared past, we may inspire curiosity which is the prime quality of a young scholar. Grammar and literature can also be tiresome and difficult, but their relevance is much easier to validate as reading and writing will always be crucial skills for our future leaders.

Literature is one of my top subjects! I am now several courses into my Master's of Literature program, and my passion is in English literature. A Little Bit About Me...

Although I have earned my degree, BS in Psychology, my previous education includes 2 years at St. John's College in Santa Fe, New Mexico and 2 years of Engineering at Oregon State University. The years at St. John's have given me the unusual ability to tutor students in Ancient Greek. They laid a foundation in Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry and Calculus which the years of Engineering built up further. A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching. Working with a student one-to-one or even in small groups allows a student to have their individual needs met. Tutoring has the advantage of catching the student where they are struggling to comprehend. I am patient, creative, and prefer to model examples for my students. I believe that a strong foundation in the basics will help a student grasp more difficult concepts.
