I am an innate musician. I've been performing, singing, and playing piano and flute since elementary school and have always adored it. My music experience began with performance where many people from high school through college encouraged me to pursue it professionally. I love to teach, to be of service, to share my natural musicality with choirs, children's choirs, and private students. I finished my B.M. degree and served as pianist, organist, flutist, conductor, singer, choir director in several churches. I've also had private voice students. Every student is different; some require more help than others. As a teacher I have to find the best way for the child to learn. I want learning to be constructive, but also fun. I have discovered through years of education, that the amount of enthusiasm from an educator can make a huge difference. Therefore as an educator, I need to be patient and always encouraging. Adding details, examples, and stories to a study subject can help many students mentally see what I’m trying to teach. I am an Ivy League Graduate with Doctoral level graduate Studies from Indiana University. My minor for each of my study areas is Psychology. I have taught multiple subjects in academic, corporate, public service, K-12, and Emergency Medical Services and have been in training and education all of my professional career, currently tutoring in the Kalamazoo Public School systems. Al though I have never technically tutored or taught a child writing, I am interested in helping aid a child's learning experience. I am extremely personable and social, and would get along great with any child. I am patient, understanding and eager to provide my extensive knowledge of writing to those that need help.
