Hi, My name is Rob. I graduated from SUNY Oswego summa cum laude with a BS in applied mathematics and a minor in statistics. The plan is to start a Master's Degree in applied statistics at Syracuse University in the fall of 2013. My comments on tutoring Pre-Algebra : Pre-Algebra involves taking everything you've learned up until now in math and using it to build a foundation for algebra, and it would be my absolute pleasure to help you build the confidence to succeed! I am patient and more than willing to go over concepts multiple times.

For tutoring, I prefer face-to-face lessons, because it makes it easier for me to gauge how well the student is understanding the material. I try to explain concepts in a variety of ways to find out how the student learns best, whether through repetition, example, metaphor, application... whatever works! I have tutored kids with all kinds of needs and a few with pretty short attention spans :) For piano lessons, I would use the Alfred library of teaching materials, as that is how I was taught and it works wonders on new learners! In addition to reading music, I would focus on performance techniques and theory as well.

I attended Houghton College for 2 1/2 years. Then I went to NCCC and earned an AS, then transferred to Charter Oak State College. They took all the credits I had earned as a student at both schools, allowed me to define my degree, told me which additional credits I needed and granted my degree. I have homeschooled my children for 15 years. My oldest is 19 and going to RIT in the fall. He has an AS which he got the week he turned 18. I also have two teens whom I currently school.
