My teaching experience was at the college level: • as a graduate assistant at Northern Illinois University • as a full time member of the faculty at Morton College • as a graduate assistant (Doctoral program) University of Washington I hold a BS and an MS in Accounting from Northern Illinois University, I took the CPA exam in the Spring 1968 and passed all parts on the first attempt, and I hold an MBA from the University of Washington. My Master’s Thesis was a study on how well community college transfers faired academically when compared to students that had all four years in the program. As an Elon University Love School of Business graduate I have extensive training in all aspects of business including Finance, Accounting, and Marketing. In addtion I have excellent written and oral communication skills from outside courses and previous tutoring experience.
Though I have no official experience as a tutor, being the oldest of three children there was always an oppurtunity to help with homework. I have always had an interest in English, writing, and Communications. I have tutored students in both English, reading, and writing. In my undergraduate program I earned a BA in English and spent time working as a writer and Sports Editor for my college newspaper, worked as an intern at a newspaper, and worked in Public Relations as Communications Manager for a nonprofit organization.

I began 'teaching' as the head wakeboarding instructor at Coble Ski School in Lillington, NC, when I was a junior in high school. Shortly thereafter I took a position working at a beach resort in Pensacola, FL, where I spent an entire summer instructing surfing, kayaking and sailing. At Duke I tutored during each of my four years, either biweekly at a local Durham elementary school or at the Emily K Family Life Center.
