The Achievement Centers, our after school tutorial/diagnostic clinic and before and after school care, is available for all ages and subjects. Tutoring and diagnostic testing is available after school, evenings (Monday – Friday) and Saturday mornings. The clinic is available year-round. I was born in Taiwan and grew up in Shanghai. I tutored English in Shanghai and tutored Mandarin at Wheaton College. I'm confident in not just teaching Mandarin but relating the language to American culture and Chinese culture. I am a third year student majoring in Geology at Wheaton College. I spent one year as a teaching assistant in the geology department at Wheaton.
I believe the best way to improve Mandarin is through speaking it. Therefore, I will stress on the oral portion more. I think reading and discussing about articles on different subjects is a good way to help students feel comfortable about speaking Chinese.
