Over the summers, I worked abroad in Germany and Italy with children on military bases for a program called Camp Adventure Youth Services. I also taught a year in middle school, a year in community college and worked in administrative positions at the elementary, middle school and high school levels. I taught elementary school in the 4-J School District. I later returned to graduate school at Portland State University for an MA to teach English as a Second Language and taught ESL to immigrants at Lane Community College. While living in Montana for a few years, I taught phonics, reading, and math with small groups of children in the Title One program in the Eureka Public Schools. Most recently I taught English to international students at the American English Institute at the University of Oregon.
