A Little Bit About Me...

I have my BA in social science and a Master's in counseling. I have been in the field of education for twenty years. I have taught in mostly middle and high school and am currently teaching psychology at Mid Michigan Community College. I have worked with youth in many different capacities. I have worked with 4-H, public schools, college, and volunteered in many areas. I am dedicated to and passionate about education and the process of learning. I have good realtionships with my students and they trust that I have their best interests at hand. While I understand that learning is serious, it should also be fun. I value the importance of learning and believe that I convey that to those I teach.

I graduated from Saginaw Valley State University with a degree in Secondary Education and am certified in the State of Michigan to teach 6-12th grade English and math. Along with completing student teaching, I have substitute taught in various districts as well as tutored homeschool students. I volunteer at my church as a Sunday School teacher, and during college I participated as a conversation partner in the English as a Second Language program.

A Little Bit About Me...

After high school, I recognized in myself a desire to work with elementary- and high school-aged children. I have always been at the top of my classes and was heading for an engineering school before I discovered a love for helping kids. I do not have any teaching experience but I spent many summers working with these age groups at camp and enjoy interacting with them. I also easily understand most high school subjects and enjoy helping students find the answers they are looking for. I have very good communications skills from long use in college and post-graduate studies.
My teaching style would be to find the student's primary learning style and converting the information he or she needs into a format that fits that learning style. I am a retired special ed teacher. I worked with Learning Disabled, Emotionally Impaired, Cognitively Impaired, and Austistic students primarily in the high school. I was an Assistant Principal in a middle school for four years, and a teacher consultant for 30 years. In my role as a teacher consultant, I tutored students primarily in the high school.
