GED is one of my top subjects!

I am a college graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science emphasis on Mathematics. I have been an educator most of my career. I began as a Substitute Teacher from Kindergarten to high school Physical Education you name it I taught it - this was not what I wanted to do at the time, but as I reminiscence now it was a pleasurable experience. Then I had the opportunity to teach computer basics to adults as well as K-12 children - now I felt like I was getting somewhere (I'm working in my field!). My comments on tutoring GED : Passed virtual testing.

I started out tutoring elementary students in basic math and English grammar while I attended college part time in the 1980's. I continued tutoring young students and adults in the 1990's, tutoring Basic Math, Basic and Intermediate Algebra, Basic Geometry, English Composition, Speech, Study Skills and the Sciences. In addition, tips were given to enhance test-taking skills in hard-to-Ace subjects like Economics. I have tutored for the Sickle Cell Organization in 2001, helping students catch up numerous missed assignments. I tutor when the opportunity presents itself. I find that the most important aspect of teaching is to consider the student's perspective. It wasn't that long ago that I was a student myself, and I found the most effective teachers were the ones who were able to explain concepts in a variety of ways. Along with this I find it import for a teacher to fully understand a question being asked by a student. I have had teachers give me incorrect answers to questions because their was a communication disconnect. Exercising patience and understanding cannot be over emphasized. I have a hands on teaching style that mixes fun activities with an emphasis on asking children questions. I pay attention to each individual student and try to figure out what their learning style is. I try to center activities around how they learn (ie. if they are a textile learner, I'll bring in physical shapes to work on geometric problems as opposed to worksheets).
