While working with an adult native Spanish speaker to improve her English was certainly rewarding, my desire has always been to work with children or adolescents, as I feel that they are more amenable to an educational program and have a greater learning capacity when given the proper opportunities. My teaching style is one of constant progression, in which the student's strengths and weaknesses are weighed and an appropriate lesson plan formed based on his/her abilities. While in college I took every opportunity to help friends and classmates. I enjoy understanding a subject and then helping another understand it as well. Everyone learns differently, and it takes relating each persons style to that subject. I feel most people enjoy learning as long as they can avoid becoming frustrated.

A Little Bit About Me...

I like to have a relationship with the students I tutored where they feel comfortable with me; I want them to be able to tell me the problems they're having with the work and what I can do to help. I like to be friendly with them while still being an authority figure where they want to do their best. I think this type of relationship allows me to push the students to their maximum limit without discouraging them when we're having a difficult session.

I have a background in chemistry. I also have extensive training as a chemist and as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Purdue University. My teaching activities involved teaching general and organic chemistry laboratory sections to undergraduates and giving pre-laboratory lectures. I also supervised laboratory experiments and conducted recitations
